From Passion to Practice
Magic City Music Therapy was founded from a passion for the power of music. Mariana Issa, MT-BC, saw how music could open doors- helping children learn, supporting students in schools, and bringing comfort and connection to older adults. She realized that every person, regardless of age or ability, could benefit from the creativity, engagement, and growth music provides.
From early childhood development to memory care, Magic City Music Therapy brings music into homes, schools, and community spaces across Birmingham and surrounding areas. Every session is designed to meet each individual where they are, using music as a bridge to communication, skill-building, and authentic connection.
At its heart, Magic City Music Therapy is about more than therapy- it’s about celebrating progress, sparking joy, and showing the unique ways music can touch lives.
Mariana Issa, MT-BC
Mariana earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) from the University of Montevallo and received her music therapy education at the University of Alabama. She completed her internship at a local private practice, Music Therapy Milestones, where she had the opportunity to enhance her skills and work with a variety of populations. In addition to being a Board Certified Music Therapist, Mariana is a Developmental Specialist in Early Intervention and a certified Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Music Therapist (NICU-MT). Mariana loves how music therapy builds connections and supports a wide range of goals across all ages and abilities. She finds great joy in seeing individuals reach milestones and express joy through music therapy!
